Metro South-West Ladies Open Pairs Winners

Last weekend saw the running of the 2024/25 Metro South-West Ladies Open Pairs Championships at St Johns Park. It was an all St Johns Park clash in the Final with Brianna Smith & Samantha Ferguson claiming the Championship with a 28-13 win over last years State Champions Natasha Russell & Dawn Hayman. Brianna & Samantha started the better, jumping out to a 9-1 lead after 5 ends. Natasha & Dawn slowly worked there way into the match during the middle stages, closing the margin to only 4 shots, 17-13 after 16 ends. That would be as close as they would get though, with Brianna & Samantha scoring 11 shots over the next 4 ends, taking the match & the Championship 28-13. Congratulations to all 4 players on reaching the final. Brianna & Samantha will now represent Metro South-West at the State Championships in Ballina in late March 2025.

The Semi Finals were also all St Johns clashes. Brianna & Samantha defeated Erin Swatridge & Brittany Camp 20-18 in a fantastic game of bowls, whilst Natasha & Dawn defeated Maryann Parcell & Chelsea McKay in another close encounter 21-15.
