2024/25 Men’s Minor Singles Championship

Congratulations to Michael Hoyer who is the 2024/25 Men’s Minor Singles Champion, defeating Terry Harris 25-24 in a thrilling Final.
Michael had the best of the early going leading 5-1 after 5 ends. Terry then found his range, winning 6 of the next 8 ends to take the lead 9-8. After the next 4 ends, the score was locked at 12 all. Michael the picked up a 2, followed by a full count of 4, which saw him jump to a 18-12 lead. After trading 1’s on the next 2 ends, Michael picked up a 3, putting him within striking distance of the finish, 21-14. It was at this point where Terry hit top gear, playing some great draw bowls as well as conversion shots. Terry would win the next 7 ends, scoring 9 shots, to take the lead 23-21. Michael bounced back, scoring a 2 to make the score 23 all. On the next end, Michael was holding the 2 shots he needed to win, but Terry wasn’t done with, claiming the shot with a great last bowl to take the lead again 24-23. The next end went shot for shot, with Michael playing a pivotal 3rd bowl to hold 2 shots, & game with 1 bowl to play each. Terry attempted to rescue the game by drawing, but he fell agonisingly close to getting 2nd shot. Michael chose not to play his last bowl, & after a measure, Terry conceded 2 shots, & the match to Michael, 25-24. Congratulations to both players who put on a wonderful match which kept the large group of spectators thoroughly entertained.
In the Semi Finals, Michael defeated Brad Farlow 25-17 while Terry defeated Noukham Bouttavong 25-14.
