2024/25 Ladies Major Singles Championship

Congratulations to Brianna Smith who is the 2024/25 Ladies Major Singles Champion after defeating the 6 time defending Champion Dawn Hayman 25-21 in a gripping final. After dropping a 1 on the 1st end, Brianna then was in red hot form, winning 8 consecutive ends to take a commanding 16-1 lead. Showing the fight & determination that has made her one of the best Bowlers not only in Australia, but the world, Dawn began to cut into Brianna’s lead. Over the next 8 ends, Dawn managed to pickup 11 shots while only conceding 3 singles to cut the deficit to 7 shots, 19-12. A pair of singles to Brianna made the score 21-12. However, Dawn would counter with a maximum 4 shots, before dropping a 1, but then scoring a 3 & all of a sudden the margin was only 3 shots, 22-19. With the game now well & truly in the balance, Brianna steadied a scored back to back singles to put her “all but” at 24-19. 2 shots to Dawn then made it possible for her to go out at 24-21, but it was Brianna who scored the 1 shot she required, to take the match & the Championship 25-21. Congratulations to both players on a truly fantastic game. This is Brianna’s 1st Major Singles Title after being Runner Up to Dawn the last 2 years.
In the Semi Finals, Brianna defeated Chelsea McKay 25-14 while Dawn had a 25-11 win over Erin Swatridge.
